Dental Implants

Dental implants represent one of the best methods for replacing lost teeth. They consist of a titanium metal framework that is attached to a person’s jawbone. Once installed, the framework will be able to support a dental crown, bridge or dentures. This will restore the appearance and function of the person’s teeth, and it will prevent issues such as facial structure loss and jawbone deterioration from occurring.

Because dental implants conduct the same function as natural tooth roots, replacement teeth that utilize dental implants feel remarkably natural, and they are often indistinguishable from a person’s natural teeth. With their exceptional performance and appearance, dental implants are an ideal method for dealing with tooth loss and replacing a person’s missing teeth.

At Thomas & Thomas Dental, our experts offer support for subperiosteal implants, endosteal implants and all-on-four implants.

Subperiosteal Implants

Unlike most other forms dental implants, subperiosteal implants are not inserted into the jawbone. Instead, this type of implant consists of a metal frame that is applied over the surface of the jawbone. This metal frame is designed to secure a supporting post that works to keep the dental crown, bridge or denture steady at all times.

Since subperiosteal implants are not actually secured inside the jawbone, they are a great solution for patients with a jawbone that is too weak, frail or thin to properly support other types of implants. By using subperiosteal implants, a person can receive a high-quality dental restoration without a bone grafting procedure and a potentially lengthy healing period.

Endosteal Implants

Endosteal implants are comprised of a titanium metal foundation that is inserted directly into the patient’s jawbone. Once installed, it can be used to support a dental crown, bridge or dentures as needed, always keeping them steady and secure. Endosteal implants generally provide outstanding support for replacement teeth, and they do a great job of helping a restoration feel more natural.

All-On-Four Implants

Using just four strategically placed implants, all-on-four implants are designed to support an entire top or bottom row of replacement teeth. Just like endosteal implants, all-on-four implants are inserted into the jawbone in order to provide exceptional support for replacement teeth. Because of their general simplicity, great performance and natural feel, all-on-four implants are considered to be one of the best types of dental implants available today.
